Fairhaven Holiday Cottages has joined forces with Freedom Holiday Homes to bring you a greater selection of holiday properties in Kent, Sussex and Wiltshire. We both share the same values and are proud of our local knowledge and friendly service. Together we have a portfolio of properties to suit every taste, party size and preferred location. And new for 2010, all our properties are Visit Britain inspected – giving you even greater assurance of quality when you book.

Letting periods
Cottages are usually available for 1 or more weeks from a Friday or a Saturday depending on the property. Please refer to the individual property descriptions. Sometimes we can offer holidays starting on other days.

Short Breaks
Short breaks are available in many of our properties from October-April inclusive excluding Bank Holiday week and October half term. Some properties will also be available for short breaks between May-September but only at short notice and subject to availability. The short break can start on any day. The prices for breaks of up to 4 nights are 75% of the weekly rate, 5 & 6 nights are charged at the normal weekly rate. Please note that short breaks are not available over Christmas, which is charged weekly at the high season rate.

Longer Lets
Many properties are available out of the summer season for longer lets.

Rents
Rentals are per week and vary from season to season. Rental includes VAT. When booking includes a week starting in one month and finishing in the next, the rental for that week is the rental applicable to the month which includes the majority of the week. Extras such as towels are quoted separately when applicable and payable with the rent

Extra Charges
Full Linen includes towels, bed linen, including sheets, pillow cases and duvet covers. The individual property descriptions detail the arrangements and extra cost if required. If bed linen and towels are included, one set per week for each bed will be supplied. Fuel (electricity, gas, oil, etc) is charged by meter reading or coin meter if it is not included in the rent (most properties include fuel charges in the rent).  Where pets are accepted at a property they are charged at £20 per pet per week.

Total number in the Party
It is essential that the number of people stipulated in the property description should not be exceeded and only those listed on the Booking Form may occupy the property. A cot may only be occupied by a child aged 24 months or less. The key holder has the right to refuse to accept a party comprising of more than that number and no refund will be given.

All of our cottages are generously equipped for the advertised number of guests. Sufficient heating, electric or gas cooker, refrigerator, the necessary kitchen utensils, cutlery, duvets or blankets and pillows are all provided.

Young Parties
We are essentially providing family holidays and it is Company Policy not to accept bookings from groups of people under the age of 25 and/or large single sex parties.

Arrival and Departure Times
Once you have paid the full amount for your booking you will be sent owner/caretaker contact information and directions to the property. The majority of rentals commence at 4:00pm on the first day of your holiday and end at 10:00am on the day of departure unless prior arrangements are made or otherwise specified in the property description and/or the Travel Directions and Key Details. This ensures that the Owner or Housekeeper has time to prepare the property for incoming guests and your co-operation in this matter will contribute to a trouble-free changeover.

Cleanliness
Guests are responsible for ensuring the property is left clean and tidy at the end of the holiday. An extra charge may be applicable if the property is not left in a reasonable state upon departure.

Special Requirements
We welcome visitors who have special requirements including those who, through disability, need particular facilities. Our properties are all different and we always try to find the most appropriate property for each visitor. However, please understand that not all of our properties can offer every facility so it is essential that you discuss your requirements with us before you make a booking.

Period Properties
Many of the properties within the brochure and website are older cottages dating back to the 19th century or earlier. It is important to remember before booking your holiday that part of the charm of such properties are the characteristically low ceilings, doorways and beams. They often have steep and narrow stairs and because of low or sloping ceilings, may have limited clothes hanging facilities. Many were also built before the introduction of damp proof courses and cavity insulation. These points are particularly important to note if your party has any elderly or very young members. Thatched roofs and beams can attract spiders, and cobwebs reappear very quickly after being removed.

We feel that these are aspects of the properties that add character and charm and would not hesitate to recommend them to you given the aforementioned features are understood.
